Emma Blanchet,
This book is filled with absolute nonsense & some pieces of advice I feel could be harmful。 Her response to dealing with anxiety is to "shrug and say if it happens, it happens"。 I'm sorry - it does not work like that。 Lines like "Didn't look at nice as wanted to? Regret is showing you you should try harder" Like what?! The author majorly fails to miss the complexities of humans and the human brain in many, many ways。 This was a super disappointing read and it worries me for any young woman readi This book is filled with absolute nonsense & some pieces of advice I feel could be harmful。 Her response to dealing with anxiety is to "shrug and say if it happens, it happens"。 I'm sorry - it does not work like that。 Lines like "Didn't look at nice as wanted to? I mean really。 I didn't know how badly I needed this book。 I never thought of myself as someone who gets in there own way。 This book I finished in a single sitting。 I had the digital copy and it didn't have clear chapters so I couldn't stop reading。 It was so relatable and realistic。 An issue that I find is "self help books" have a way of making you feel sometimes worse about your situation。 That did not happen here。 This book。。。。 I could read it again and still glean so much。 I would reco Whoa! An unexpected book found serendipitously。 Filled with lots of wisdom and will definitely be one I return to again (it now resides on a shelf of books close to my bedside)。 There were a few occasions where I think it fell short of being as helpful as it could have been by way of actions or application, but it might have been designed in this way to put the onus back to each of us to go on our own journey of discovery to find your own interpretation and path。 This was my first read by the author a An unexpected book found serendipitously。 Filled with lots of wisdom and will definitely be one I return to again (it now resides on a shelf of books close to my bedside)。 There were a few occasions where I think it fell short of being as helpful as it could have been by way of actions or application, but it might have been designed in this way to put the onus back to each of us to go on our own journey of discovery to find your own interpretation and path。 This was my first read by the author and I’ve since purchased her 100 essays book。 I’ve also left a comment on one disparaging review about her age which I don’t think should be a reason to discount her。 She has an old wise soul and I’ll take the wisdom she enlightens us with and furthermore, in whatever form the universe gifts it to me。 。。。more

I like how it kept emphasising a lot of work and any growth starts and builds internally and a reminder that acknowledging your feelings is very important。 Good read and definitely a book I will fall back on every now and then

Just get it, read it and get over yourself。
Serene Edwards,
I actually cannot express how much I loved this book。 It was so helpful during a time where I was going through a rough patch last summer。 I really took my time reading this as I really wanted to get the full experience of reading this, as well as reading Brianna Wiest's other book (which I also recommend) 101 Essays That Will Change The Way You Think。 I can honestly say that my perspective of how I view things and how I deal with certain situations, how to grow from them。If I could rate it any I actually cannot express how much I loved this book。 It was so helpful during a time where I was going through a rough patch last summer。 I really took my time reading this as I really wanted to get the full experience of reading this, as well as reading Brianna Wiest's other book (which I also recommend) 101 Essays That Will Change The Way You Think。 I can honestly say that my perspective of how I view things and how I deal with certain situations, how to grow from them。If I could rate it any higher I would! 。。。more

The Mountain is You makes this the third Brianna Wiest book I've lapped up。 I am utterly astounded at the depth of this writer who hasn't yet reached 30。 It took me until my mid-40s, at the earliest, to begin arriving at this level of awareness。 Some of it is basic to those who've done a lot of self-work, but her prose is irresistible。 It's delicious to be spoon fed such real talk about the tough stuff in such beautiful fashion。 I incorporated it into my morning meditative practices, only nibbli The Mountain is You makes this the third Brianna Wiest book I've lapped up。 I am utterly astounded at the depth of this writer who hasn't yet reached 30。 It took me until my mid-40s, at the earliest, to begin arriving at this level of awareness。 Some of it is basic to those who've done a lot of self-work, but her prose is irresistible。 It's delicious to be spoon fed such real talk about the tough stuff in such beautiful fashion。 I incorporated it into my morning meditative practices, only nibbling on a paragraph or two, a page or two at a time。 I had a number of aha's。 Maybe I knew some of these at another time, but this time they came around and when I was more pliable, more ready to learn。 (Thank you, 2020。) Lot's of aha's! Yesses, journaling and shares (here) followed。I agree, as one reviewer wrote on Amazon, the content seems to be most applicable to a younger set, but we all know folks much older who have not yet set out on the rocky pilgrimage of deep inner growth。 I cannot applaud this writer enough for her courage, depth and talent。 I'm waiting for a memoir。 I want to know how she navigated her life's rough waters and got to this place way ahead of midlife。 Brava! 。。。more

A solid self-development book! Provides a super interesting perspective on how and why we self-sabotage and how we can choose to fix it。 I liked her style of describing the problem and directly under giving suggestions on ways to solve said issue。
Robyn Latchford,
The book starts off a little slow, but overall is a gem。 Not a typical BS self help book。 It’s actually thoughtful and gives you important questions and ideas to think about。
Krysti DeSandre,
Overall, I love this book。 I enjoy the way it was written, how unlike most of personal development books it doesn't feel so aggressive in approach。 It was so helpful the first time reading it, that I am currently rereading it to see what I may have missed as well as reinforce some of the things that the author talks about。 The only downside is that it can get repetitive in messaging, as well as some errors that you find in the writing throughout as if when it was being edited, they skimmed and m Overall, I love this book。 I enjoy the way it was written, how unlike most of personal development books it doesn't feel so aggressive in approach。 It was so helpful the first time reading it, that I am currently rereading it to see what I may have missed as well as reinforce some of the things that the author talks about。 The only downside is that it can get repetitive in messaging, as well as some errors that you find in the writing throughout as if when it was being edited, they skimmed and missed a few parts。 The typos and errors snagged me while reading a couple times, but the value was still there so I proceeded。This is a great book to read a few pages of in the morning to focus and direct the mind in the start of the day。 Would definitely recommend to anyone who's; looking to deepen their relationship with themselves, working to become more self aware, and active in challenging their own destructive behaviors。 。。。more
Helen Mary Labao Barrameda,
A perfect January read, the start of the year where you identify the weeds of your life so you can take off and eventually be ready for harvest。 The book started out a bit dry for me but it started to resonate with me midway until the end。 The fascinating almost surgical level by which the author digs into how we sabotage ourselves is incredibly educational and insightful。 Lots to unpack for me from realizations coming from this book。
Josephine Florendo,
This book is wonderfully refreshing and can give you great insights on how to improve your life and mindset。 It all starts with inner work and the beauty of self-acceptance。
Cassidy Persson,
I finally got through this book after picking it up a few times in the past。 It was good overall but I found the writing style very choppy and a bit disorienting at times。 There were so many great lines that’s it hard to just keep reading bc the style of the pages could be set up as quotes that stand alone。
MJ Blehart,
Climb every mountainThe ideas presented in this book are a unique and practical exploration of conscious reality creation and making use of your own inherent power to grow and control your life。 The chapters tend to be lengthy, but this book is an excellent read for anyone seeking to live the fullest life possible。

Right words at the right timeWhen I read self help type books, I'll highlight if I come across something that rings true。 I'll use a second stronger color if it provides insight or a new path I hadn't seen/thought of before, or that I had forgotten。 I think I may have marked more of this book than not。 Due to the nature of books on self, it's hard to say whether I would recommend this book to you。 If you are looking for someone else to provide answers, this isn't the book。 This is more like a qu Right words at the right timeWhen I read self help type books, I'll highlight if I come across something that rings true。 I'll use a second stronger color if it provides insight or a new path I hadn't seen/thought of before, or that I had forgotten。 I think I may have marked more of this book than not。 Due to the nature of books on self, it's hard to say whether I would recommend this book to you。 If you are looking for someone else to provide answers, this isn't the book。 This is more like a quiet voice in your ear helping to give you new places to look inside for those answers。You can find the author's work on Medium if you want a good sampling of her voice/style。 It's what led me here。 Hope this helps。 。。。more

My thoughts on The Mountain is youI enjoy reading books which open my eyes to looking at life from another view。 I find this very helpful in challenging myself to reexamine some life long habits。 I know just reading it through once is not the answer for me。 I am grateful to the author for putting out this resource for whomever chooses to consider a different look at life's journey。 My thoughts on The Mountain is youI enjoy reading books which open my eyes to looking at life from another view。 I find this very helpful in challenging myself to reexamine some life long habits。 I know just reading it through once is not the answer for me。 I am grateful to the author for putting out this resource for whomever chooses to consider a different look at life's journey。 。。。more

This book is the closest thing to going to therapy without actually going。 A book to read multiple times in order to really make use of the learnings。 Probably one I will have to read twice a year and study in depth in order to do the internal work each time to make real progress。Such an easy read, read it in 4 days。

The title intrigued me when I found it after reading one book, researching recommendations and through a rabbit hole found this one。 I’ve read similar mindset books so I had low expectations of it really altering my reality or behaviors。This book was refreshingly to the point with no BS。 There were moments I just stared at a phrase or sentence - Yes。 So simple。 So easy to understand yet profound。 I felt like this author articulated what many other books wrote circles around and never really got The title intrigued me when I found it after reading one book, researching recommendations and through a rabbit hole found this one。 I’ve read similar mindset books so I had low expectations of it really altering my reality or behaviors。This book was refreshingly to the point with no BS。 There were moments I just stared at a phrase or sentence - Yes。 So simple。 So easy to understand yet profound。 I felt like this author articulated what many other books wrote circles around and never really got to the root。 I felt like the whole book was highlight worthy and actually considered recording myself reading a chapter and sending the video to a dear friend。 Take aways in chapter 1: -‘People do not actually change their lives until not changing becomes the less comfortable option’ -You change when you have rage with yourself。 Radical change, healing, doing the work, will create change, often drastic。 Which causes more uncomfortableness。 Then I loved chapter 3 going through each emotion - what it signifies, looks like/feels like, healthy/unhealthy expressions。 This was great perspective that even as an emotionally intelligent person I learned a ton。 If I thought more would read I would gift this book to everyone of my loved ones。 Definitely suggesting having my children read when I feel it’s appropriate。 。。。more

I just finished this book and I got to say it has many interesting new perspectives on life and how to overcome adversity and struggles。 Wiest provides thoughts and tactics to be a better version of yourself and life a happier life。 Of course, ultimately it is you who has to do the work but this book is a great source of information and motivation。
Ashley Haga,
Highly suggested for anyone actively attempting to break down your own patterns of self sabotage。 Life changing。
Denis Murphy,
Well written with some great insightsI really enjoyed this book。 I like the holistic approach Brianna has to personal growth。 The concept of logical lapses was a new concept for me and helped explain some of the ways I felt and thought when I was in university。

Amy Riordan,
I cannot tell you how much this book has allowed me to see not only how much I self sabotage, but also to feel calm & completely inspired to move forward toward greater things。 This is the perfect book for 2020, as we question our lives & all that we stand for。 I’m ready to leave my legacy。 Thank you Brianna!
